About the release

The 10.0.0 release is the tenth monthly update for Datto RMM in 2021. Along with numerous fixes and improvements, some of the highlights are listed below.

Updates to the New UI

  • Automatic device onboarding. As new endpoints, hypervisors, and SNMP devices are discovered, you can now select an option within the Site Summary page for Datto RMM to attempt to onboard these devices and bring them under management automatically. Refer to Initiate Network Discovery.

  • Disk usage metrics for Windows devices. To help with common tasks such as troubleshooting device issues or capacity planning, you can now view disk usage metrics covering the past 90 days within the Metrics card on the Device Summary page. Refer to Metrics.
  • Security level configuration. You can now create and manage security levels from within the Setup menu. We have also made available a number of Best Practices options to provide functionality that aligns with common use cases. Refer to Security Levels - New UI.

Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022 support

We are happy to announce support for Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022 operating systems in this release. Refer to Operating systems.

Additions to the ComStore

We release new ComStore components and update existing ones every month. Notable additions this month include the following components:

  • Deploy Datto Virtual SIRIS to Hyper-V Server. Deploy a virtual SIRIS to a Hyper-V server with no configuration. The component automatically downloads and provisions a VM with a vSIRIS image configured with the parameters you set.
  • BitLocker & TPM Audit. Replaces the existing BitLocker & Recovery Key audit components. Use this component to get the version number of the TPM on the device (for Windows 11 upgrades) alongside the BitLocker encryption type and status and recovery keys.

NOTE  To access a full list of ComStore components, refer to List of ComStore components.

Local component cache deprecation

As part of Datto’s continued commitment to security, we are constantly reviewing the technologies leveraged by Datto RMM to determine their suitability for the modern cyber security landscape.

An analysis of agent methods used to peer share components across a local network for bandwidth efficiency reasons found them to be suboptimal in this regard. For this reason, we made the decision to remove the local cache functionality from the Datto RMM Agent with the 10.0.0 release.

Please note that references to the local cache remain in the UI at present but will be removed in future.
