About the release

The 9.7.0 release is the seventh monthly update for Datto RMM in 2021. Along with numerous fixes and improvements, some of the highlights are listed below.

Updates to the New UI

  • Network Discovery device onboarding on the Site Summary page. You can now manually onboard devices from the Network Discovery card of the Site Summary page, including onboarding from a list of discovered devices and from the topology map. Refer to Network Discovery topology map and Network Discovery device list.

  • Configure Windows Update policies on the Policies page. You can now view and configure Windows Update policies from the New UI Policies page. Refer to Windows Update policy.
  • Table improvements. We introduced a new Condensed Theme for tables, greatly increasing information density. This is applied by default for all tables. The setting can be adjusted with the density toggle displayed at the top right of tables. Refer to List of devices.
  • Manage Software Management updates on the Device Summary page. The updated Applications card on the Device Summary page now displays both installed applications and applications managed by Software Management. You can see the granular status information per application and approve updates as needed. Refer to Applications.
  • Request a device audit from a device list. Device audit is now an available action on device lists. Refer to Request Audit.
  • Manage global and site variables. You can now configure global variables and site variables on the Global Settings and Site Settings pages, respectively. Refer to Variables (Global Settings) and Variables (Site Settings).

Additions to the ComStore

We release new ComStore components and update existing ones every month. Notable additions this month include the following components:

  • Kaseya Agent Detection Monitor. This component monitor detects if the Kaseya Agent is installed and can attempt to stop the Agent and its services on the endpoint. We recommend using this monitor in conjunction with the existing Kaseya Agent UNINSTALLER [WIN] ComStore component.
  • Toggle SYSTEM write access to Spool Drivers. This component controls SYSTEM write capability to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers, a folder being actively targeted by PrintNightmare attacks.
  • Set System Time via Internet. This component attempts to set the system’s time to the correct local value using an NTP server. If a device is domain-joined, attempts will first be made to set the time using the domain controller.
  • Windows Update Deep Scan. This component conducts deep analysis of actions by Windows Update, returning results in StdOut with options to return counts of results to a UDF.

NOTE  To access a full list of ComStore components, refer to List of ComStore components.

An update regarding Mobile Device Management End-of-Life

As previously announced on August 28, 2020, Mobile Device Management (MDM) was considered End-of-Life, with support for MDM ending on October 1, 2020. As an update to this, today we are announcing that MDM services will be deactivated on July 31, 2021. For more information, refer to the update on this post in the Community.
