How do I enable SYSTEM access to files or folders?

The Datto RMM Agent runs at the SYSTEM level. When using File Manager, any actions are also taken at the SYSTEM level.

To enable SYSTEM access, first navigate to the security settings of the file or folder by following these steps:

1. Open File Explorer.
2. Navigate to the desired file or folder.
3. Right-click the file or folder, then click Properties.
4. Click the Security tab.

If SYSTEM already exists as a user name in the Group or user names list, follow these steps:

1. Click SYSTEM in the list.
2. Click Edit....
3. Ensure SYSTEM is still selected in the list.
4. Ensure the Allow check boxes are selected for Full control, Modify, Read & execute, Read, and Write.
5. If you made any changes, click Apply, then click OK.

If SYSTEM does not exist as a user name in the Group or user names list, follow these steps:

1. Click Edit....
2. Click Add....
3. Type SYSTEM into the Enter the object names to select field.
4. Click Check Names.
5. Click OK.
6. Click SYSTEM in the Group or user names list.
7. Select the Allow check boxes for Full control, Modify, Read & execute, Read, and Write.
8. Click Apply, then click OK.
