Patch Management policy installs incorrect patches
If a Datto RMM Patch Management Policy seems to install incorrect patches on your device, follow these troubleshooting steps:
Review patches against policy criteria
Remove any unwanted patches from the policy criteria and add references to your desired patches as needed.
Verify if the patches were installed through Datto RMM
Occasionally, updates are installed outside of Datto RMM due to misconfiguration. Make sure these patches were installed by Datto RMM by viewing the Datto RMM Service log files. Refer to Agent log files.
Review the Windows Update log
This file contains all logging information from Windows updates. On Windows 10 you may need to build the log via the following PowerShell command as Windows 10 now uses Event Tracing for Windows (ETW):
Get-WindowsUpdateLog
Gather information for further troubleshooting with Datto RMM Support
If the issue persists, gather as much of the following information as possible to share with Datto RMM Support in Kaseya Helpdesk:
- Hostnames and UIDs of affected devices
- Names and IDs of affected policies
- Datto RMM Agent Service log files (Agent log files)
- Windows Event Logs in .evtx format (Collecting the Application and System Event logs)
