Agent Browser device discovery returns no results

Issue

When you attempt to deploy Datto RMM from the Agent Browser, available devices are not displayed.

Cause

The Agent Browser cannot communicate with the endpoint devices due to an issue with their network configurations.

Resolution

Open a Windows Command Prompt session and enter the Windows command net view. Follow these steps based on the output of the command:

An error is displayed

Device discovery through the Agent Browser requires no errors in net view's output. A common error is Error 6118, which indicates the Computer Browser or Browser service is not running. For other errors, consult the Microsoft Knowledge Base for additional troubleshooting steps.

No information is displayed

  1. Ensure the device meets the requirements. Refer to Requirements and warnings.
  2. Ensure Network Discovery is turned on. Refer to How do I turn on Windows network discovery?
  3. Run net view after following the preceding steps.

Information is displayed with no errors

  1. Attempt to discover devices using the Agent Browser.
  2. If it fails again, attempt to reproduce and contact Datto RMM Support. Refer to Kaseya Helpdesk.
