Windows 10 end of support and Windows 11 readiness
Starting October 14, 2025, Windows 10 will reach the end of Microsoft support. You may use the Windows 10 ESU Monitor (Beta) [WIN] component to ensure Windows 10 Devices are licensed appropriately by year. More info on the ESU Program.
For devices not covered by ESU licenses, you may run the Windows 11 Readiness Check [WIN] component against Windows 10 devices to determine which are eligible for an upgrade to Windows 11.
Using the Windows 11 Readiness Check [WIN] component
Running the Windows 11 Readiness Check component against a Windows device writes the readiness results to a User Defined Field (UDF), allowing you to filter for devices which are capable or incapable as required. The filter criteria are:
- Device incapable of updating to Windows 11: UDF Contains Windows 11: Not capable
- Device capable of updating to Windows 11: UDF Contains Windows 11: Capable
- Device is already running Windows 11: UDF Contains W11OK
- Other outputs (FAILED TO RUN and UNDETERMINED) are possible but unlikely to occur.
For devices identified as Windows 11: Capable, you can run the Windows 11: Upgrade or Update to Latest Feature Release [WIN] ComStore component to update devices running Windows 10 version 2004 or newer to Windows 11, version 25H2. You can also update using an ISO file and the appropriate ComStore component.
For devices identified as Windows 11: Not Capable, take appropriate action based on the output (stdout) of the Windows 11 Readiness Check [WIN] component. The output will list each system requirement followed by a PASS or FAIL result, separated by semicolons.
