Adding a site - Legacy UI
SECURITY Permission to manage Sites
NAVIGATION Legacy UI > Sites > New Site
When you register your Datto RMM account, two sites are created for you by default: a Managed site and an OnDemand site. Managed sites can access all Datto RMM features, while OnDemand sites have limited access. For further information, refer to Sites - Legacy UI.
A site lets you group devices together. You can define sites in the way that suits you best. If you are a Managed Service Provider, a site might mean a customer. If you are supporting one large IT organization and your devices are spread out over a number of locations, a site may be an office department or a location. Whatever your situation, you can set up your sites as per your preference.
NOTE Note that a device can only belong to one site, but it can be moved between sites as required.
To add additional sites:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Name | Give a relevant name to your site to ensure your teams will be able to find the devices in the place they expect (for example, "Glasgow Office", "St. John's Comprehensive School", etc.). NOTE The Name field has a limit of 255 characters. |
Description | Give a relevant description to your site. |
Phone Number | This field only becomes visible if your Datto RMM account is integrated with Autotask. Refer to Autotask Integration. Enter a phone number so that the system can look for duplicate Autotask companies. The phone number entered here will not be saved for the new site. Entering a phone number is optional. |
Type | Select Managed or OnDemand as required. Refer to Sites - Legacy UI. |
Proxy type | If the devices that you're going to install the Agent on use a proxy server to connect to the internet, enter the proxy details here to ensure that the devices are already configured when you install the Agent on them. For more information, refer to Proxy settings in Datto RMM - Legacy UI. |
Security Levels | Select the security levels for which this site should be accessible. Refer to Security Level Details - Device Visibility. |
Groups | Select the Site Group(s) that the new site should be added to. This step is optional. Refer to Groups - Legacy UI. |
- Click Save.
- If your Datto RMM account is not integrated with Autotask, the new site will be saved and you'll be directed to the Site summary - Legacy UI page.
- If you are integrated with Autotask, you can map a Datto RMM site to an Autotask company. You will be directed to the Map Site page where you will have the following options to choose from:
Radio Button | Description |
---|---|
Create a new company for this site | Select this option if you would like to map your new Datto RMM site to a new Autotask company; that is, if you would like to create a new Autotask company for this site. Enter a Phone Number and assign one of your Autotask Account Managers to the new Autotask company by selecting a name from the drop-down list. |
Map the site to an existing company recommended by the system | Select this option if you would like to map your new Datto RMM site to an existing Autotask company recommended by the system. Choose the required company from the list. |
Map the site to a different existing company of your choice | Select this option if you would like to map your new Datto RMM site to an existing Autotask company of your choice. Enter at least three characters in the Filter field and click Search. Choose the required company from the list. NOTE The filter searches for the name, phone number and address of the Autotask companies. |
Do not map this site to a company | Select this option if you do not wish to map your new Datto RMM site to an Autotask company. If you choose this option, you will not be able to create any tickets for this Datto RMM site. NOTE You can always edit your mapping rules on the Autotask Integration page later. For more information, refer to Re-run mapping analysis in the legacy UI or Run New Analysis in the New UI. |
- Click Finish Mapping. The new site will be saved and you'll be directed to the Site summary - Legacy UI page.
- To delete a site, locate it by clicking on the Sites tab, then hover over it and click the Delete site icon at the end of the row. For more information, refer to Delete site.
NOTE If your Datto RMM account is integrated with Autotask, you can easily see which Autotask company your Datto RMM site is mapped to by selecting the Autotask PSA Company column from the Column Chooser in the Sites list. If a site is mapped to an Autotask company, you can click the hyperlinked name to open the company detail page in Autotask. Note that one Autotask company can be mapped to more than one Datto RMM site; that is, multiple Datto RMM sites may show the same Autotask company name in your Sites list. For more information about mapping rules, refer to Configure company (site) and resource (user) mapping in the legacy UI or Configure organization (site) mapping in the New UI.
