Deploying the Datto Backup Windows Agent (version 2.0)

NOTE  For Datto Backup Windows Agent (version 2.1) instructions, refer to Deploying the Datto Backup Windows Agent (version 2.1 and higher). For guidance about which Datto Backup Windows Agent is right for your protected system, refer to Getting started with the Datto Windows Agent in the Unified Backup Help.

To deploy the Datto Backup Windows Agent (version 2.0) via Datto RMM, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Datto Backup Windows Agent installer from this link.
  2. Create a new component. Refer to Creating a component.
  3. Ensure that the Category, Script, and Files sections are configured the following way:
    • Category: Select Applications.
    • Commands/Script: Select Batch and enter the following command line: DattoWindowsAgent.exe /S /norestart
  4. NOTE  The Datto Backup Windows Agent will be installed silently. Omitting /norestart will cause the targeted devices to forcibly reboot once the installation has been completed.

    • Files: Add the Datto Backup Windows Agent installer file downloaded in step 1.
  1. Create a job, and in the Components section, add the component you created. Refer to Scheduled jobs. The Datto Backup Windows Agent will be installed on the targeted devices once the job has run.

NOTE  If you used /norestart in your component's command line, you must reboot the devices for the installation to complete.
