About the release

The 13.6.0 release is the tenth of our twelve monthly releases planned for 2024. Please see below for the highlights, along with the full list of fixes and improvements. As always, we look forward to your feedback as we continue to improve the product every single month.

Autotask Integration: Site mapping performance improvement

Site mapping for the Autotask Integration now performs more efficiently for accounts with thousands of companies.

This update resolves the issue that could cause the Sites tab to spin for extended periods of time without loading results.

With reduced load times, users can now access site data more quickly and reliably, improving workflow efficiency and saving time.

Datto EDR and Datto AV Integration: API key validation for deregistration

Previously, users were unable to deregister the Datto EDR Integration when their API key was invalid, leading to failed requests.

To address this, the deregistration process has been updated to require users to reenter their API key.

This improvement ensures the integration can be properly deregistered, preventing issues during reregistrations, especially in troubleshooting or migration scenarios.

Refer to Disable the Datto Endpoint Security Integration in Datto RMM.

Improved Datto EDR and Ransomware Detection status accuracy

Datto RMM has implemented extra checks to ensure the web interface reflects accurate Datto EDR and Ransomware Detection statuses. Now, certain sets of conditions must be met for the statuses to be reported as Active on the platform. Refer to RWD Status in Column Chooser - Devices and Ransomware Status in Widget Library.

Patch approval override visibility

When a patch is manually approved at the device level, users previously lost visibility of its overridden status.

A new column has been added to indicate when a patch has been manually overridden, including filtering and sorting options based on the override status, for ease of management and visibility. Refer to Patches summary list.

Software Management: Improved process execution handling

ComStore components used by the standard Software Management policy now include a -wait flag in PowerShell's Start-Process cmdlet to ensure proper execution and prevent premature cleanup of the working directory. Refer to Software Management.

Enhanced network interface information available via the API

New functionality has been added to the public API, offering more efficient access to network interface information.

This update allows you to retrieve device network interface details in bulk, including previously unavailable information about the connection type.

The connection type is now included in the network interface data available via the /v2/audit/device/[deviceUid] API endpoint, giving greater visibility into how devices are connecting.

A new API endpoint, /v2/site/[siteUid]/devices/network-interface, has been introduced, enabling you to query all network interface information for all devices within a site.

Datto EDR agent integrity check

To further strengthen the security posture of Datto EDR, Datto RMM now performs an integrity check on the Datto EDR agent to ensure everything is running as expected. If necessary, a service restart or even a reinstallation will be performed to ensure that jointly managed devices remain fully protected at all times.

New best practices resources

Patch Management

Refer to Best practices for Patch Management to learn how to use the Patch Management and Windows Update policies to control how your Windows PCs download, install, and report back data on Windows updates. This updated guide is intended for users who are new to Datto RMM, but the information may be relevant to users looking to refine their existing setups.

Security levels in co-managed environments

Refer to Potential configurations for co-managed environments in Security levels to review recommended security level configurations for users in your environment who require access to Datto RMM for specific purposes (for example, L1 technicians versus L3 technicians).

Advanced Software Management: September updates

Discontinued titles

  • Python 3.10 (32-bit)
  • Python 3.10 (64-bit)
  • Python 3.11 (32-bit)
  • Python 3.11 (64-bit)

During software installation and updates, Advanced Software Management no longer closes applications currently in use by the end user. Microsoft 365 applications have been updated to reflect this change, and Datto RMM plans to extend this capability to other applications managed by Advanced Software Management in the future.

Refer to Advanced Software Management application catalog.

Additions to the ComStore

We release new ComStore components and update existing ones every month. Notable additions this month include the following:

  • User Activity Monitor and OneDrive Sync Status Monitor: Both of these components use CreateProcessAsUser. Datto RMM now uses precompiled DLLs for this function, eliminating the need for PowerShell to compile it every time. These ComStore scripts provide a smoother experience for ThreatLocker users.
  • CylancePROTECT and CylanceOPTICS integration: A formal business integration with BlackBerry serves Cylance from the ComStore. Currently, this integration extends as far as deployment for macOS and Windows.

NOTE  To access a full list of ComStore components, refer to List of ComStore components.
