About the release
The 13.8.0 release is the last of our twelve monthly releases in 2024. Please see below for the highlights, along with the full list of fixes and improvements. As always, we look forward to your feedback as we continue to improve the product every single month.
Web Remote
It is recommended that users clear their browser cache and cookies following the release to purge any potential cached data. If errors are encountered when using Web Remote, refer to Web Remote troubleshooting and tips.
Device Approvals security level permission
The new Device Approvals security level permission eliminates the need for Administrators to exclusively handle approvals for new devices or encryption key changes. This enables organizations to delegate approval responsibilities to authorized non-administrators, eliminating the need to elevate user privileges solely for this task. Refer to Device Approvals in Security levels.
Alerts list search
A new search bar on Alerts list pages allows users to search alert content directly.
The search scope includes the previously unavailable Message field as well as information not displayed in the list, such as the alert UID. Refer to Alerts.
Endpoint Security card improvements
The Endpoint Security card on the device summary page has been enhanced to address confusion and support issues as we implement further security information. Key problems identified include ambiguous status field meanings, limited scalability for additional information, and the absence of indications for security policy conflicts. These updates are designed to provide a clearer and more intuitive experience for users.
The updates feature clearer labels, informative tooltips, and a structured layout for the card, which has been renamed Security. These changes will significantly enhance usability and efficiency for technicians, allowing for quicker and more accurate assessments of device security statuses, as well as provide a framework to scale this informational card with further endpoint security information. Datto EDR status indicator improvements
We've enhanced the granularity of Datto EDR status indicators across Datto RMM. This provides greater insight into the current statuses and improves correlation with Datto EDR. These updates are reflected throughout the platform, including on the device summary page, in devices lists, and in dashboards. Refer to Datto EDR in Endpoint Security statuses.
NOTE After the update, inactive devices may temporarily show Needs Attention until they reconnect. Please allow one working day for devices to update their statuses. Thank you for your patience.
Conflict warning for Endpoint Security policy configuration
Datto RMM has been updated to prevent simultaneous activation of conflicting security configurations (Datto Endpoint Security, Ransomware Detection, and Managed Windows Defender Antivirus). The policy creation page now displays a warning and restricts invalid configurations to prevent security vulnerabilities and unexpected billing. Refer to Endpoint Security policy in Policies.
Non-billable device exclusion added to Integrated Customer Billing
Devices in a device group named _NotBillable_ will be omitted from the daily push to Autotask or BMS billing. This allows you to exclude specified devices from being counted for the billing automation.
This enhancement improves security by reducing the number of Administrator users and offers greater flexibility to support co-managed scenarios.
Rebuilt Datto Endpoint Backup agent deployment component
We have released a new ComStore component to deploy Datto Endpoint Backup v2.
NOTE The v2 component requires a different token than v1 deployments, which must be retrieved from the backup.net interface. Refer to Datto Endpoint Backup Version 2 User Guide in the Unified Backup Help system.
Additions to the ComStore
We release new ComStore components and update existing ones every month. Notable additions this month include the following:
- Microsoft Teams (New): This component replaces the old machine-wide Microsoft Teams component, which has been deprecated.
- Datto EDR Maintenance: This component replaces the old Datto EDR Force Reinstall & Upgrade component.

Support has been added for manually installed UWP application upgrades:
- Classic app > upgrade > classic app upgraded
- UWP (manually installed) > upgrade > UWP upgraded
- Fresh installation > classic app installed

Autotask Integration
