About the release
The 10.8.0 release is the sixth of our twelve monthly releases planned for 2022. Please see below for the highlights, along with the full list of fixes and improvements.
Patch audit views at the global, site, and device level
You can now access patch audit information at the global, site, and device level in the New UI. Refer to Global and site-level patches summary lists in Patch Management and Patches summary list in Device summary. This provides a number of benefits including the following:
- View the patch detail summary for multiple devices. Find devices with patches of interest in the Installed, Approved Pending, or Not approved state, for a single site or globally.
- Link directly to the associated Microsoft KB article. Explore detailed information directly on the Microsoft Support site for any audited patch.
- Navigate to a filtered device list for any patch in any installation state. Take further actions such as running a report or initiating patching on devices based on the installation state of a patch. Refer to Total Devices.
Web Remote clipboard sync management
When working across one or multiple machines, it can often be all too easy to accidentally copy and paste information to your clients' machines via the clipboard. As a result, some partners may desire more control over how information is shared between clipboards.
To support this, we have made a number of improvements and changes to how clipboard synchronization works in Web Remote. Refer to Preferences.
- Sync Clipboard. Enabled by default, this new option allows technicians to control whether the keyboard should automatically synchronize or not between the host and guest devices of a Web Remote session. This option allows technicians to decide whether to synchronize potentially sensitive data when connecting to client devices.
- Clear Clipboard On Close. Enabled by default, this new option allows technicians to ensure that the clipboard is cleared after disconnecting from a device.
- Web Remote now prevents propagation to both Microsoft's Cloud Clipboard and the local Clipboard History. Any material synchronized to a target endpoint’s clipboard will not be replicated to other devices the target user owns, bypassing Microsoft’s Cloud Clipboard feature. The clipboard is also not preserved by the target’s local Clipboard History. This change to prevent propagation into clipboard history cannot be disabled by technicians nor administrators.
Other New UI updates
- Column filter visibility improvements. We have made it more obvious which filters have been applied to columns in device and job lists, with options to quickly remove filters. Refer to List of devices and The jobs table.
- Configure job duration. You can now configure job duration when creating and editing jobs. Refer to Duration.
- Created date column for jobs. You can now access a Created date column from the Jobs page, including options to sort. Refer to Created in The jobs table.
- Audio icon for dashboard widgets. You can now easily identify widgets with an audible alert activated to manage audio preferences. Refer to Recent Alerts.
Discontinuation of support for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008
IMPORTANT As mentioned in the Datto RMM 10.6.0 release notes and Datto RMM 10.7.0 release notes, starting with the 10.8.0 release, Datto RMM Agents will stop functioning on endpoints that cannot run .NET6 (previously known as .NET Core). As such, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 will no longer be supported.
Most modern Windows operating systems happily support .NET 6; however, some releases such as Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 (anything NT 6.1) may need to get the correct KB updates installed to ensure continued operation with .NET 6. For more information, refer to this Kaseya Community post and Supported operating systems and Agent requirements.
Additions to the ComStore
We release new ComStore components and update existing ones every month. Notable additions this month include the following components:
- Microsoft Office RCE (Follina) Workaround. Use this CyberDrain Component to apply (or remove) a patch for the newly discovered Follina vulnerability in Microsoft Office. More information.
- Potentially Unwanted Remote Support Software Scanner. This monitor replaces dedicated monitors for Atera and Kaseya agents and adds support for TeamViewer and ConnectWise Control. Use it to ensure your devices have not had unauthorised RMM/RTO programs installed on them.
NOTE To access a full list of ComStore components, refer to List of ComStore components.
